Learning Disability Week 2026 at MAIN
“Do You See Me?”
Learning Disability Week 2026, led by Mencap, took place from 15th – 21st June and focused on the powerful theme “Do you see me?” — encouraging everyone to ensure people with learning disabilities are truly seen, heard, valued, and included in society.
At MAIN, we were proud to celebrate this important week by shining a spotlight on the incredible creativity and individuality of our young people.
Celebrating Through Creativity
Throughout the week, our Saturday Youth Group took part in arts and crafts activities inspired by this year’s theme. The sessions gave our young people the chance to explore:
- What it means to be seen and understood
- Celebrating individuality
- Expressing who they truly are
- The importance of inclusion and acceptance
The artwork created was vibrant, meaningful, and full of personality—each piece telling its own unique story.
Being Seen for Who We Are
The theme “Do you see me?” reminded us all how important it is to look beyond labels and truly recognise each person for who they are.
Our young people embraced this message wholeheartedly, showing confidence, creativity, and pride in their identities. Their work reflected not only their talents, but also their voices—highlighting how vital it is for everyone to feel acknowledged and celebrated.
Everyone Deserves to Be Celebrated
At MAIN, we believe every individual deserves to be recognised, respected, and included. Learning Disability Week is a chance to raise awareness, but also to celebrate the amazing people who are part of our community every day.
We are incredibly proud of everything our youth group achieved during the week—your creativity and positivity inspire us all.
