Volunteering at MAIN- Litter Pick

Thank You to Teesside University Students!

We were delighted to welcome students from Teesside University today, who generously volunteered their time to help us prepare for our Christmas Fayre tomorrow at 2pm.

The students spent a few hours litter picking around our building and cleaning some rooms, ensuring everything is in perfect condition for the event. A special shoutout goes to Aski, Michelle, Tony, Jesubukade, and Fatima for their incredible help and dedication.

Your efforts have made a significant difference, and we are truly grateful for your support. Thank you for your time and hard work!

We look forward to seeing everyone at the Christmas Fayre tomorrow!

‘Thanks for organising everything – I had a really fulfilling morning. All of the staff and volunteers were really welcoming and friendly and it was a great cause for the community! Nice to meet Teesside students from different countries/schools of study too.’

Local Services: The Oriental Museum

We visited The Oriental Museum in County Durham

Katherine and Pippa visited The Oriental Museum last month and reported back.

MAIN were invited to come visit Durham University’s Oriental Museum where they were shown around by Charlotte Spink and Ailsa Douglas. This museum has free entry and is very accessible, there is a lift, small gift shop and coffee shop. The reception are super friendly and the whole place is set up for interaction. The museum is also very child friendly with some very tactile exhibits including the ribbon tree that you can sit under for some sensory time or add a ribbon to it for yourself. There are lots of seating available on all four levels and each level has space dedicated to encouraging children to learn more about these cultures with lots of activities in each area.

The museum exhibits items from Ancient Egypt to modern China and has dedicated it’s space to the archaeology and the art from Northern Africa and Asia.

If you are planning a visit there are accessibility guides here

Fayzan from Middlesbrough Football Foundation Visits Inbetweeners for Team-Building Games

We were thrilled to welcome Fayzan from the Middlesbrough Football Foundation to Inbetweeners and Thursday After school club this week. Fayzan led a series of engaging and fun games designed to promote teamwork and collaboration among our participants.

The activities were a huge success, with everyone enthusiastically taking part and working together to complete the challenges. These games not only brought smiles and laughter but also highlighted the importance of working as a team to achieve common goals.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Fayzan and the Middlesbrough Football Foundation for their time and effort in making this event memorable. We look forward to more such enriching experiences in the future!

We have another exciting update for our Pathways to Independence centre! Here’s a sneak peek at the colour theme for the centre and reception area.

Thoughtful Design:

Although MAIN has extensive experience, we recently attended a conference focused on interior design for autistic individuals. This has helped us ensure that our new features are not only appropriate but also create a calm and welcoming environment with reduced barriers.

We are committed to making our centre a place where everyone feels comfortable and supported. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to make progress!
